The Victorian Government announcement regarding our Last Step Restrictions (effective as of 23rd November) was a welcome update. Some of the key updates from the announcement currently in effect are as follows:
Flex Office
- Work: Businesses with fewer than 40 staff can have 10 staff on-site subject to density quotients.
- Workplaces currently working from home (such as offices in the CBD) to return for up to 25 per cent of their workforce per site from 30 November 2020
- Standard workplace requirements including density limits continue to apply
Events
- Hospitality
- Indoors:
- Venues less than 200sqm of floor space subject to density quotient of 1 per 2sqm up to a total of 50 patrons. QR codes must be used for venues using the small indoor venue density quotient. No group limit.
What does this mean?
- For those with fewer than 40 employees you are now able to have 10 staff onsite at anything given time.
- For those with over 40 employees you are now able to have 25% of staff onsite at anything given time.
- Thresholds for each of our meeting rooms, events and hospitality spaces have increased.

Y-HOUSE Volunteering
The Y-House Foundation Inc. supports young people living in, or at risk of living in, aged care. Across Australia there are 6048 young people living in residential aged care. In Australia the minimum age for admission to aged care is 65, so when we talk about ‘young people’ living in aged care we’re talking about all those under the age of 65 that are living in this environment. There are many reasons that young people end up living in aged care, the main being that they have complex disabilities or medical conditions that result in high care needs.
I have been a supporter of the Y-House since 2013 when, while working for Grill'd, we hosted a fundraising event where all proceeds of a weekend trade went directly to the Y-house.
From that weekend on, I wanted to do more than just raise money for this worthwhile cause, I wanted to be directly involved and try to make a difference in these young people's lives.
I officially Joined the Y-House committee in 2016 and have never looked back.
One of my most fulfilling moments was being part of a program called Y-Gift. This is where we got to fulfill one of our chosen young person's dreams! On this day, we picked up Ange (link to her story - https://www.y-house.org.au/story/beginning/) and went on a little road trip to Torquay, where we went skydiving!
Ange had always wanted to do this, and never in her wildest dreams thought it would be possible given her current circumstances.
I will never forget the smile on her face when her feet touched the ground after her jump. It is something I will forever cherish.
