Things are getting real with this Global Pandemic. Have you heard about it?

You’re probably working from home, trying to keep your distance from others and only heading out when it’s totally necessary. Social distancing is taking some getting used to, so we’ve come up with a bunch of things you can do to get you through it, without losing your cool!

1. Jigsaw Puzzles
It’s great to have an activity you can get really engrossed in times like this. Jigsaw puzzles have the power to draw people in, an amazing way to distract and preoccupy frustrated minds for hours. You won’t want to get up and start scrolling through the news until you find… just… one… more… piece. And if you finish one, why not arrange a (low-contact) swap with a friend who has another jigsaw they’ve completed? Just remember to wash your hands

2. Quarantcleaning
Quarantine may not be sparking joy, but a squeaky clean home will. This is a great time to get to the bottom of the laundry basket, INCLUDING the weird hand wash only jumper that has been in there since last winter. Why don’t you actually just sort out your pots and pans so they don’t fall out every single time you open the cupboard? Pop on some headphones and rock out while you vacuum every inch of your house!

3. Learn a language, new skill or random facts
Whether it’s ‘official’ studying or not, we should never stop learning. A study published in the Psychological Science Journal found that regularly putting time into learning a new skill for at least three months improved the memory of participants significantly and sustainably over the next year, compared to participants who simply engaged in social activities. Check out EDX or Coursera for free online courses from big shots such as Harvard, MIT & more.

WATCH

If you’re bored out of your brains, or have already exhausted every good show on Netflix and Stan, why not tune into some cute animal videos and spread the word about a good cause?

Victorian animal shelter Edgar’s Mission are regularly live-streaming their feeding sessions, giving you enough cute farm animal content to have you signing up for Farmer Wants A Wife.

We could all use a bit of cute animal content to brighten up our days, and this way you’re helping to keep a much-needed animal sanctuary running.

Boost your immune system… the tasty way!

We asked Lyn what we should be fuelling ourselves to keep us and our loved ones fighting fit – here’s what our Food and Beverage superstar recommends!

“Orange and Yellow Veggies are the way to go; sweet potato, carrots, pumpkin, yellow squash, butter beans, are rich in beta carotene an antioxidant.

Greens are great; broccoli, silverbeet, beans, kale, spinach, packed with vitamin C.

Add garlic, ginger, to any of your dishes, including juices, smoothies, the antiviral property in garlic and ginger.

Go to dishes for me are always soups or slow cooked dishes, rich, flavoursome and packed with natural seasonal ingredients.”

There you have it! Now go forth and boost that immunity!
