We all set them, but most of us forget them. Resolutions. Like them or lump them, New Year’s resolutions are a great way to think ‘bigger and better’ for the year ahead. According to the Chinese zodiac, 2019 is the Year of the Earth Pig too, which means now is the perfect time to make money, invest and grow.

We’ve learnt from experience that first and foremost, investing in yourself and investing in your business is the best way to succeed. Here are our top three tips to set New Year’s resolutions that you’ll easily stick to…

1. Write your New Year’s resolutions down.

Whether you want to get fit and healthy or secure more clients, the easiest way to stay focused on your goals is to acknowledge them – and that means looking at them daily. Write them on a post-it-note and stick it to your fridge, your desk or your dashboard. Wherever you put that list, if you can see it, you’ll be more inclined to work towards your resolutions every day – and achieve them.

2. Make at least one resolution that has nothing to do with money or income.

Getting a better job or getting a promotion is a great task to set yourself, but it’s also important to work towards one resolution or goal that has nothing to do with money. Make it something wholesome and full of good vibes. When you’re running your own business, it’s easy to focus on the financials, but it’s essential to remember your ‘why’. Hustle and slay like you’ve never hustled and slain before, but don’t forget to celebrate the small stuff and set goals that just make you feel good.

3. Don’t ‘stop’ doing things, just ‘start’ doing better things.

There are a few New Year’s resolutions that repeat themselves, year after year; stop eating chocolate, stop eating carbs, stop procrastinating, stop buying takeaway, stop smoking. They’re great goals, but by telling yourself to ‘quit’ something, there’s subconscious negativity, and if you don’t achieve those ‘giving up something’ resolutions, the bad vibes just keep coming. Instead, ‘start’ new things, take chances, try something new and think outside the box. Try out a co-working space, start going to business events, say yes to something you’d ordinarily say no to… Positive business growth starts with positive business owners, and that means having a positive relationship with the resolutions you set.

On the topic of trying new things; if you’re running a business from home, now is the time to step it up and step into a co-working space. If you’re yet to try co-working in Melbourne, make 2019 your ‘yes year’ when it comes to business and pushing yourself outside of the box. Seriously, get out of that four-walled home-office box and give yourself the opportunity to grow in a co-working space. Start 2019 off on the right foot and the right area, and pop in for a tour.
